The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Canterbury is just a 35-minute drive from the hotel. Check out Canterbury Cathedral, one of the country’s oldest and finest Christian structures. Wander cobbled streets lined with quirky shops and cafes, or admire the views of the city from the Roman walls. A thriving theatre scene is centred around the Marlowe Theatre, named for the 16th-century playwright.
Three miles south of the hotel, Great Chart Golf & Leisure is the place to be whether you’re looking for family fun or corporate away days. Besides nine-hole golf and pitch and putt, there are variations such as frisbee golf and footy golf. Colleagues can bond while targeting the boss in a game of paintball, or experience the thrill of rolling down a hill in a giant inflatable sphere.
Don’t Go Home Without
There are many reasons to visit Willesborough Windmill, 15 minutes drive from the hotel. You can watch this fully-restored Grade II-listed building in operation, the sails turning gently in the wind as the mill grinds corn for flour. But it would be sheer folly to leave without trying the delicious home-made cakes on sale at the on-site tearoom. Please check with reception for opening hours.
With its warm climate, chalky soil and south-facing slopes, Kent is at the forefront of a blooming English wine industry. Exploring the vineyards of the Tenterden district, around half an hour from the hotel, you can indulge in tasting sessions and pick up a few cases of the local vintage. Hops and fruit also grow very well in these parts, if locally crafted beer or cider are more to your taste.
